(Not apparent to her young understanding, the sun had merely burst through on an angle and lit up the granular insulbrick surface of the exterior wall.) Iwona Dufaj is a Canadian artist, born surrealist, who explores visual narrative in her oil paintings, translating ideals of emotional bonding and human nature. After graduating from Toronto’s OCADU Iwona built a successful career in graphic design. After 16 years in design she decided to pursue her true calling and resume her painting aspirations. Through surrealism, Dufaj creates an alternate world where emotions can exist without repercussion. She works primarily with oils on canvas and many layers of polished, buffed Venetian plaster, perfecting and still experimenting with a technique she developed over a decade ago. For over twenty years Her art has been exhibited in galleries, annual shows and for private collectors, now reaching an international audience.
