Just about "ART" blog

letting go

13/7/2017

From the beginning, the intention was to create a painting that gives the illusion of two images overlapping (something that happens when you get double exposure in photography). But the underpainting turned out so well, with such yummy colours and dynamic textures that it took me three days to finally get enough courage to cover her up with plaster. The end result, very satisfying, and a good lesson on letting go.

Count Our Blessings !!!

Just a little visual reminder of how privileged we are and that taking our resources for granted paints a grim future for our children. Little lesson from the young ones, enjoy it, protect it and share it.

Hanging out with Dexter

Anything goes when the pressure is on. My frame guy didn't have time to paint my frames before the show, so with 3 days to go I did it the Dexter style - fast, precise and clean, didn't leave a mark. Like it never happened.

First prize winner "TEMPUS AGUMEN" at the Odyssey Ball and Chair Affair. We were provided with old chairs and asked to redo them in any way we wanted. This is what mine turned out to be.  Loved this challenge.

Very fitting poem for this painting. Written 22 years prior to its creation.

By żyć jak ogień -                             Uwodzi róża ptaka:
ogień róż burzy                                Amorze, mój aniele –
burzę ukradnij                                  a może przez to morze
ptakom podróży.                             przeniesiesz mnie w swym ciele?

Burzę podróży                                 Przeniosę cię w mym ciele
wędrownym ptakom                        po Greenwich śpiewnym łuku
ukradnij ogień                                  jeżeli nie zrozpaczysz
ptakom śpiewakom.                        serca swojego stuku.

Śpiewając ptakom                            I jeśli oddech smreków
w burzy podróży                              do ócz ci nie wprze bielma
żyć będziesz z ognia                        to pani burz podróży
i wiatru róży.                                    zawładnie tobą szelma.

                           Co wydrzesz z życia róży
                                             to oddasz ptakowi
                                                       a on odfrunie, zginie,
                                                                        przepadnie i przeminie.

                           Lecz twoje-ty nie zmoże
                                      nim kiedyś już w pokorze
                                                       dźwigniesz tę ziemię zimną
                                                                          co róży ogniem gorze.

Freaking out before a show.

Whenever I have something big happening, I paint, I paint pure emotions and resolve. I think I'm sure I want to share this ? This is the evolution of a painting while freaking out about New York.

Couldn't have said it better myself

In eight years I have lost two very important women in my life. One has taught me how to live and the other taught me how to make my life count. The quote below is a good formula for an exceptional life.

“I no longer have patience for certain things, not because I’ve become arrogant, but simply because I reached a point in my life where I do not want to waste more time with what displeases me or hurts me. I have no patience for cynicism, excessive criticism and demands of any nature. I lost the will to please those who do not like me, to love those who do not love me and to smile at those who do not want to smile at me. I no longer spend a single minute on those who lie or want to manipulate. I decided not to coexist anymore with pretense, hypocrisy, dishonesty and cheap praise. I do not tolerate selective erudition nor academic arrogance. I do not adjust either to popular gossiping. I hate conflict and comparisons. I believe in a world of opposites and that’s why I avoid people with rigid and inflexible personalities. In friendship I dislike the lack of loyalty and betrayal. I do not get along with those who do not know how to give a compliment or a word of encouragement. Exaggerations bore me and I have difficulty accepting those who do not like animals. And on top of everything I have no patience for anyone who does not deserve my patience.” _ Meryl Streep

Thank you Amanda Campbell-Fasken for sharing this quote.

Couldn't have said it better myself. With that, a new chapter begins in my creative life, fuelled by good people and positive surroundings. Stay tuned.

I believe in the Magic of Creation... this is my world, where ideas are born and their journeys tell the final story. The good, the bad, the happy and sad, just plain old crazy.
